WE HAVE ATTENDED TO OVER 179 FIRE CASES IN DELTA STATE THIS YEAR – FIRE SERVICE BOSS

 

The Director of Delta state fire service command Mr Oziwele Eugene PhD has said that the delta state fire service have attended to over 179 cases of fire incidents from January 2023 till date.

The fire service director stated this during an interview with Forward news media crew in Asaba said fire fighting is for everybody business. We should be cautious of anything that can instigate fire or cause fire outbreak.

Carelessness have caused many fire damage in people’s home. Whenever we approach the public to obtain fire extinguisher in their homes, their responses will be God forbid, it is not my portion, which we know it can occur at any time, director stated.

He maintained that the best way to fight fire is to prevent it, be fire cautious at all time. As a fire fighters, we don’t feel happy when fire occurred but we don’t have options to disregard calls of fire incidents.

The job of fire fighters is to save life and properties engulfed by fire outbreak, we have used different platforms to sensitised the public the way to prevent fire in their homes, offices but there are some who don’t take it as matter of concern.

Oziwele noted that delta state has 22 fire service station that standby to respond to any Fire incidents in the state. He further disclosed that delta state started with five stations, now 22 and planning to make it 25 so that all Local Government Areas will have its station.

He advised the public to always corporate with them by ensuring that maximum fire guidelines are being followed, adding that people should respect fire alert, give way for fire fighters when they are responding to fire incident.

He disclosed that the modern technology has helped the fire fighters particularly the chemicals they are using now which is more sophisticated to fight fire outbreak.

The fire service Boss thanked the state government who have been their major stakeholder, said majority of the equipment used was provided by state government, adding that the state government have given them a reasonable staff.

A lot of training and retraining have been given to their staff courtesy of state government. He encouraged his staff to put premium to the job, Oziwele stated.
