DELTA STATE POLICE RECOVERED A FABRICATED AK-47 RIFLE WITH 12 ROUNDS OF 9mm LIVE AMMUNITION, 23 LIVE CARTRIDGES AND SAYS IT HAS FOILED ROBBERY ATTACK

The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force says it has foiled an armed attack in Asaba, the state capital.

Edafe said the command also recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle with 12 rounds of 9mm live ammunition and 23 live cartridges which were abandoned by the hoodlums.

Narrating the incident, the Command’s spokesman said, “On 11/09/22 at about 04:30hrs, the Command in a swift response to a distress call from Hausa Market in Asaba, about some suspicious looking persons using a tricycle in the area. Operatives of Command’s CP-Decoy Squad were detailed to the area where the hoodlums on sighting the police abandoned a de-faced tricycle and took to their heels.

“Upon a thorough search of the tricycle, a fabricated AK 47 rifle, twelve (12) rounds of 9mm live ammunition and twenty-three (23) live cartridges all concealed in a black polythene bag and hidden beneath the rear passenger’s seat were recovered.”

He said efforts have been intensified in collaboration with local vigilantes to arrest the fleeing suspects.

The PPRO quoted the state police commissioner, CP Muhammed Ali to have commended the residents of the state for always availing the Command with useful information that aids in crime fighting.

The police commissioner also urged the public to continue to collaborate with the police and as well He assured the public that information received from them will be treated with utmost confidentiality, adding that criminals do not have human sympathy and as such should not be allowed to operate unhindered.
