TO CUSHION THE EFFECT OF FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVER, DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT PLANS 2ND PHASE OF UPWARD REVIEW OF PALLIATIVES ALLOWANCE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS

Coming next to the successful undertaking of the Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000) palliative to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy remover for civil servants, the Head of Service of the Delta State Civil Service Commission, Sir Reginald Bayoko has said the Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is looking towards the second phase of upward review of palliatives allowance for Civil Servants in the state.

Bayoko, who disclosed this in Asaba on Monday while interacting with journalists added that the governor has called for an update on the implementation and has also given a directive on the next phase to the committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, to review the progress that they have made and to chat about a way forward.

According to him, there will be a complete pronouncement by the end of the month stating that the issue is at the ‘front burner’ of His Excellency the Governor.

He added that the payment would continue from where it was stopped and it would capture every worker on the government payroll.

The Head of Service while speaking, also advised every civil servant in the state to always give their best at all times despite the challenges that they are facing, saying “My message has always been clear because, in the civil service, an average civil servant, the way we are configured is that at every given point in time, you give your best. Whether there are good times or challenging times, you must give your best. That’s our training.”

“My advice is let’s forget about what the situation is directly. Know within yourself what your core values are as a civil servant. Whether good or bad, give your best at all times which is what I encouraged them to do.”

He also gives a hint about his experiences as one of the longest-serving heads of service in the state, saying “My experience is bitter-sweet but more sweet than bitter. The only thing I can say now is the challenge I am facing. Sometimes I get to hear feedback from people who wonder if a kind of civil servant in my category exists and whether we will have a quality person to replace us. This is what I think I am battling with at the moment.”

“And I tell myself that after all these years I can’t get positive feedback in that regard, it means that I can’t score myself a pass. That is why I said bitter-sweet but I will say I got good cooperation from the civil servants and there is a lot of positivity among the workforce.
