The Education Secretary in Oshimili South Local Education Authority Comrade Mrs Allanah Oputa-Otutu has declared that the era of teachers in Nigeria using rope to measure yam has gone.
The Education Secretary stated this during an interview with The Forward News Media in Asaba, said years back people distance themselves in teaching job based on the low salary involved.
Allanah noted that when she came onboard as Education secretary in Oshimili South , she makes sure that there is sanity in the system, push away every loophole and lapses that affecting the system.
Hear her ” I thanked the effort of the Executive Chairman of Oshimili South Hon. Dr Obi Kelvin Ezenyili for his benevolent act towards the education system in Oshimili South and Hon Barr Bridget Anyafulu member representing Oshimili South in Delta state House of Assembly who went round the schools to see where to come in”.
According to her, Oshimili South education system have upgraded in technology with a lot of computers to train and retrain teachers to march the current trends in education system in Nigeria, we are not perfect but trying our best to see our children doing well in the society.
She frowned at parents who are not showing interest in their children education, encouraging them into yahoo and prostitution business, adding that, to them the end will tell.
” We are begging parents to teach the children the way to go as stated in the Bible, fear God, direct your children and check on them at all time”.
As teachers we make sure that the learning environment of our pupils is clean, noting that personalities speaks and as a teacher it will also speak for you out there
She maintained that when she was chairman of NUT Oshimili South, she moved round during the school hours to ascertain that all children of school age are in class and if anyone caught she will take the student to the school or to his or her home to know while that child is not in school.
She further stated that as Education secretary, she is now in touch with security personnel, education taskforce to arrest any child moving around during the school ours and if you are caught, you will be taken to the station, your parents will pay 20,000 to bail you. Be at home if you didn’t go to school, Allanah advised.
The education Secretary said she hopes to see the handicap students to be in school, appealing that if vehicles are being provided to convey them to school they will be happy, because they like to see themselves in school and you can see the joy in them.
