DELTA STATE NUJ CONGRATULATES PROF. HILLARY OWAMAH ON HIS WELL-EARNED APPOINTMENT AS DELSU’s DVC (ACADEMIC)
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has congratulated Prof. Hillary Owamah on his well-earned appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Delta State University, Abraka.
The Union, in a statement issued by the State Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe and State Secretary, Comrade Victor Sorokwu, described the emergence of Prof Owamah, the youngest DVC (Academic) in DELSU’s history and the institution’s only Professor of Civil Engineering, as a landmark achievement that underscored his intellectual brilliance, administrative acumen, and steadfast commitment to academic excellence.
It noted that as a respected scholar, administrator, and researcher, with over 60 scientific publications in top-ranking Scopus-indexed journals, the new DVC’s contributions to higher education in Delta State and beyond were inspiring.
NUJ Delta Council stated that Prof Owamah’s tenure as Director of Academic Planning, during which DELSU secured full NUC accreditation for all 92 programmes and established 15 new disciplines, further highlighted his transformative leadership.
The Union explained that beyond academia, the young Professor of Civil Engineering remained a jolly good friend of the NUJ, a respected voice in intellectual discourse, and a resource person whose insights had enriched several of its engagements.
It maintained that it was proud of DVC’s accomplishments and had no doubt that he would bring the same visionary leadership and excellence to his new role.
“We wish you greater success, wisdom, and strength as you take on this significant responsibility in shaping the future of DELSU.
“Congratulations once again on your meritorious attainments at just 42”, the Union stated.
