The Deputy Director and Acting Centre Director of National Open University of Nigeria NOUN Asaba Study Centre Mr Yusuf Ahmed Adebayo has stated that education is not a scam
He made the declaration when he received members of The Forward News Media in his office . He said education is a life long thing and if you say education is a scam try ignorance. He went further that no matter how formal education is, it still very important and necessary because it enhances your scope, skills among others.
Adebayo noted that Asaba Study Centre of National Open University of Nigeria is safe in the area of security challenge, adding that the centre has a good understanding with the nearby police station.
While pointing out few challenges they are facing, he said the school is facing challenge of physical facilities and if it rains the premises will be flooded and he is appealing to the government to come to their aid so that the flooding in the school premises will be addressed.
He maintained that the vision of establishing Study Centres in different locations is to reach out to every Nigerians who is ready to learn and get educated. Adding that National Open University of Nigeria is planning to get Study Centres in every local government so that nobody will have any reason to be denied education
He further explained that he had a very good relationship with the staff and the students of the institution , said he was recommended to act as Centre Director through relationship.
” I talk to my students here as with courtesy and regard and the same way to my staff because without good relationship we can’t achieve*.
Adebayo advised that challenges are there but no matter what, education is very important because it makes you eloquent, it gives you confidence in doing things with courage.
According to him, he wants Asaba Study Centre to be among the big five competitive centres in Nigeria, adding that the performance of NOUN is based on number of students and his vision is to ensure that Asaba Study Centre compete with the big study centres in Nigeria.
