Gombe STATE GOVERNMENT LENGTHENS CLOSURE OF NIGHT CLUBS, ILLEGAL JOINTS TO LGA
The Gombe state Government through the task force on the closure of local night clubs, and illegal joints, says efforts are on towards extending its activities to all the Local Government Areas of the state.
Local nightclubs are popularly known as gidan galas/ houses where illicit activities are allegedly perpetrated.
Recall that recently some buildings were demolished following the activities of immoral acts in the metropolis.
Governor Muhammadu Yahaya indicated the extension when he held a meeting with the state task force and Local Government Chairmen on Friday.
Represented at the meeting by the Secretary to Government of the State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, the governor noted that though the demolition of gala houses and illegal joints is in line with his administration’s commitment, “to ensuring the same extends to the local councils for a holistic value re-orientation and crime dismantling.”
The governor explained that further deliberation is expected between the council chairmen and the Taskforce in other to identify and zero in on gala houses and illegal joints considered to be a breeding ground for social vices.
He said the fight for the restoration of social values and a crime-free society is a collective effort, adding, “Hence, the synergy between the state and the Local Government Councils for better coordination.”
Yahaya also informed the local government council chairmen and security agencies to be conscious directing them to always report security issues to the appropriate authority for prompt action.
