Maj Gen MT Usman has officially assumed command as the 24th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division Nigerian Army at the Division’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.
During the handover ceremony, the outgoing GOC expressed his gratitude to the troops of the Division for their dedication and hard work.
He encouraged them to maintain discipline, loyalty, and extend their support to the new GOC.
Now taking on the role of DG, Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Major Gen Ajunwa expressed his appreciation to Major General TA Lagbaja, the COAS, for giving him the opportunity to serve as GOC of the 81 Division.
In his inaugural address as the new GOC, Maj Gen MT Usman acknowledged the impressive accomplishments of his predecessor.
He stressed the importance of continued cooperation and loyalty among the troops and promised to work diligently to live up to the confidence placed in him by the COAS.
The Handing and Taking over Ceremony featured various significant moments, including valedictory addresses to officers and soldiers, the endorsement of handing and taking over notes, the decoration of the incoming GOC with the 81 Division insignia, and the symbolic lowering and hoisting of the old and new flags, signifying the transition from one era to the beginning of another.
