NMA THANKS DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT FOR MAKING FRACTIC EFFORT TO IMPROVING HEALTH CARE DELIVERY- DR CARTER OKOLAKPA

 

The Chairman of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Delta state chapter, Dr Okolakpa Carter immensely appreciate the Delta State Government for improving health care delivery in the state especially in the areas of infrastructural development of the teaching hospitals, hospital facilities, equipments and others.

He also said that they will definitely ask for more because there are some of the facilities that need to be equipped with man power, and working tools to work with as its says that “ health is everyone business and health is wealth”.

Dr Okolakpa Carter also ask the Delta State Government to look into quack practices that is affecting the wellbeing of our society in other to curb the hills that associates with quackeries. The Chairman  Nigeria Medical Association Delta State Chapter made this known during a discussion time with The Forward News Media crew in Asaba Delta state capital. He said quackery has been a challenge to many professions.He made an a sanction that the only way quackery could put to an end this can achieved through legislature that will make anti-quackery law. “As doctors, we have our responsibility and ethics, our pivotal role is to give medical outreach to our society.

Dr Okolakpa Carter also said that on behalf of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Delta State Chapter Congratulates His Excellency Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Orohwodor Oborevwori (JP) on his victory at the supreme court. He said that the verdict has revalidated the position of Deltans who freely cast their ballots on march 18th, 2023.

He also said that the judicial victory will spur Oborevwori government to continue on the trajectory of progress that was earlier started.

He added that Nigeria is very hard now, appealing to the new government to improve in our economy, stating that the MORE Agenda policy of this administration should also pay attention in health sector, said on their own they will improve and engage in more research because without research they will be doing outdated things in medical professionals.

He maintained that delta state have a good number of man power in health sector and the health care delivery is good in Delta, adding that they are happy for having one of their own as the commissioner for health in the state.

He noted that they will key into the health care programmes, improve in health indices of the state and it won’t be only for themselves but to other health workers, under graduates in health department.We are there to help the young doctors to develop their skills, government primary health care, he added that when the primary health care been taken care of, prevention is sure, he stated.

He commended the state government for keying into the primary health care and contributory health insurance which many civil servants and some private individuals key into. We have different means to reach out to our people in rural areas so that they will be a beneficiaries for the health care delivery.We engaged our people in health care through town hall meeting with critical stakeholders.

NMA advance in training and retraining of doctors in primary and secondary health care through seminars and workshops so that doctors and health workers will be properly equipped in health care delivery.

Dr Okolakpa disclosed that the NMA Delta state chapter collaboration with NGOs, Stakeholders in all aspects of health, and go to areas that needed to be strengthened and improve on it, adding that more manpower and equipment should be added to our health sector.
